About the Cannonball Marathon

The Cannonball run is a yearly event that takes place around the US. One event was held at Stringer’s Ridge, and others have been hosted in Greensboro. These marathons are designed to be fun for the entire family. Kids can take part in a Fun Run of up to one mile in distance. For adults, there are 5k and 10k events. Outside of the marathon, there are lots of ways for you to meet and greet people with the same love of running that you have.

Why Run a Marathon?

If fun isn’t a good enough reason for you to take part in this year’s marathons; there are many other reasons. You may run to earn money for a favorite charity, show your commitment to becoming more fit in the year ahead, inspire others to get healthier, and so much more. There is also a sense of accomplishment that can come only from successfully completing an event. Even if you are just starting on your journey through becoming more active, you can walk to the finish line. The important part is that you take part in it!

Dressing for Your Run

The ideal temperature for them is usually around 45-50F because your body, once you start running will warm up quickly. If you are trying to run in the middle of summer, your body temperature will soar.
Before you run, make sure that your clothing is suitable for the temperature during the race. This means you may want to consider tee-shirts when it 50-60F and tank tops when it is nearing 70F. Shorts are always great, but you should choose shorts that do not feel restrictive on your legs.
Your shoes should also be comfortable. They should be designed for running. Luckily, this is easy since many name brand shoe companies offer running shoes that are lightweight and comfortable.

We say, in our experience, when things get confusing adding more is a good thing. Not more in the way of bibs and such, but more in the organization of it all.

Add more tables so that you can make it more streamlined. A table for people to write their names and get their bib. A table for paying fees. There should be tables lined up with some way to tell others what will happen at that table. A way to show others that it isn’t a refreshment table or anything that can be ignored for that moment. If that is impractical, you can have a large table with large registration countertops. If you cover them with epoxy, they will be smooth as glass. Running with Baby

It is key to good health and provides us with a sense of accomplishment when we are complimented on losing weight or staying active. However, many moms feel forced to give up exercise when they feel they need it the most. After delivering a baby. After performing the miracle of childbirth, when they feel that their body is out of shape. They want to shed the pounds but wonder if running with baby is truly safe or not.

Baby Safety Matters

running with babyIt is important you speak with your doctor and your baby’s before taking your baby on a run with you. You have to make sure it is safe for you both. For you, doing anything too strenuous right after delivery can cause unnecessary pain and suffering.

Before that, you can take your baby on a walk while using a baby carrier. It is recommended that you never run with your baby in a carrier, but walking and fast walking is okay as long as your baby is not getting bounced around.

Before doing either, your infant needs to have good control over their head and neck. This usually does not happen until babies are about 6 months old.

When It Is Running Time

Head and neck control is vital. They are not “comfort items” like a crib with wheels, which are also a bad idea for running. Getting Back In Shape

Which Events Will You Attend?

There are many very large marathons that you should consider attending. Perhaps the largest is the ones in Boston and NYC, but they have competitors for popularity. Niagara Falls International Marathon is not only a large marathon but also a wonderful place to go sightseeing. The Disney World marathon is hosted annually in January. If you love all things out of this world, you may consider running the Space Coast Marathon in November. Hoover Dam and Napa Valley also have larger than life events for you to take part in.
All these events are large enough to make you feel a part of something special. You can show up, explore the area, camp with friends and family, meet new people, and enjoy the life of a marathon runner to the fullest. You simply have to decide which one you want to attend first.
